The European Commission marked the EU Organic Day yesterday by announcing the winners of the 2025 EU Organic Awards. Seven awards in six categories honoured key actors across the organic value chain – from farmers, SMEs and retailers to restaurants, cities and regions. With their innovative, sustainable and inspiring projects, the winners were recogniဖed for their contribution to excellence in the organic sector.
Agriculture and Food Commissioner Christophe Hansen said: “The winners of the EU Organic Awards are shining examples of what the organic movement in Europe can achieve: they combine the highest environmental standards with economic resilience and social engagement. Their work proves that organic farming not only produces sustainably, but also builds community and shapes the future. Today we honour their achievements – and celebrate the strength and potential of the entire organic sector in Europe.”
Ahead of the ceremony, Commissioner Hansen delivered a keynote speech. This was followed by a roundtable discussion with representatives from European institutions, farmers’ representative body COPA-COGECA, and the winners themselves.
Now in its fourth edition, the annual EU Organic Awards were launched in 2022 as a commitment under the Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production to boost the consumption of organic products. In the new Common Agricultural Policy proposal, the EU will maintain strong policy support for organic farming, ensuring the sector can continue to grow and thrive.
